We went camping, arriving around 11 a.m. on Friday. We had an excellent day. From enjoying the tent, to going on a hike, to the girls using the pit toilets (they really thought that was great. So funny), to roasting giant marshmallows, we had a great time. Also, Devon and Zinah and Rachel and Jenna camped with us, so that was lots of fun too.

And then we tried to sleep and that went poorly. So we will do longer day outings in the future and wait another few years before we attempt overnight on the mountain.
It was almost the trip that didn't happen, but it did. And Jay gets lots of credit for setting up the tent and taking it all down. We had a borrowed tent from my sister that was huge (thanks, Lisa) and he also got air mattresses and sleeping bags for the girls and repaired the zipper in Theo's sleeping bag. The biggest reason it almost didn't happen is that Theo got a concussion on Sunday night, but he was up to camping by Friday. He had to have physical and mental rest for a few days, so that was really, really boring. And then Jay was sick just on the day before, but ended up feeling better for the campout. I'm sure not sleeping that night was extra tough on him where he'd been sick.

We washed the car recently, but it was very dusty on the dirt roads. The kids kept wiping patterns in the fine dust

Devon brought a hammock and it was a favorite

On a hike!

They built a fairy house!

Theo has told me before that if only I knew how to solve a Rubik's cube, I could teach him. Well Devon knows how and was showing him a little and Theo was so happy.
