I heard the girls talking today about Little Foot.

"Little Foot was such a good dog."

"Yes, a really good dog."

Somehow they decided to sing, "Doggies come back, " to the tune of the Daniel Tiger song, "Grownups come back." The song in the show is about how when you get left with a baby sitter, your grown ups will come back.

I guess the girls either really believe they will see their dog in heaven, or they don't quite understand death. Or maybe both, because who understands death?

I'm very amazed at how the girls still talk about our dog. They were 2 when he died and are now 4. They really enjoy petting any dog they meet, but get permission first.

The girls also enjoy arguing over how to say the word "ketchup." You hear them arguing if the first sound is an "eh" or an "aa." They don't think twins need to be the same.

I had a picture of Miriam up on the computer and Wendy said, "That's, me!"

"No, that's Miriam."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, you look different. And she's still wearing the clothes in the picture, too."

I then scrolled their the photos to one of her, and she agreed the first picture was Miri.

"Why is the broccoli all," Miri paused to twist her mouth in distaste, "soggy?!"

"It's streamed, instead of roasted like I normally do."

"Why would you ever do that?!" Miri asked as her eyes filled with tears.

Funny, a decade ago Jay and I had the exact conversation, although he didn't cry.

For the record, the broccoli was extra from putting some into twice baked potatoes.

Theo writes:

At the end of school we had a sub for the last 2 1/2 months wit our class only having our regular teacher, Ms. E., on 1 Friday, on one week. the rest of the time our teacher was either Ms. Block or Ms. Roberts. Our last two weeks were with Ms. Roberts were spent mapping the ocean floor (pretend, of course!) we made a ocean floor to put in our classroom.

Wendy earned a treat to go out for ice cream. She had seen Dippin Dots at Walgreens and wanted to go back there for them. We had thought we'd go to the Screamery or Dairy Queen or something, but instead went to Walgreens.
They were really good.

The kids all went to Kitchen Kids camp and had so much fun! I didn't manage to get photos of Theo -- he doesn't love the camera as much as these girls. He always loves the cooking camp. It's his second year.
