Oregon Trip, Manzanita Beach and Scatterring Manny's Ashes

We met at Manzanita to have ice cream as a family and then to scatter Manny's ashes at a place she always loved, the beach.

While we waited for everyone to gather, besides eating ice cream and having strangers come and pet our dogs, I think the most entertaining thing was Liam and Happy!

Liam is a strong 2 year old and Happy is, of course, a strong-opinioned dachshund. Happy is a little bit bigger than Little Foot, despite being his litter mate. Liam took Happy's leash and walked around with her, but mostly they stayed still, pulling in either direction. Neither was strong enough to make much headway, but they both put up such a valiant effort it was really worth seeing.

I think my baby is going to have a hard time trying to steal the show with Liam around.

Liam had already had ice cream, but he knew Gabi would be willing to share some of hers

Strangers love Little Foot and his puppy sweater too
Around sunset we headed down to the beach. Where there was a nasty windstorm sandblasting all of us just a few hours earlier, the winds had calmed and we were able to go down to scatter the ashes.

Cory said a few words. Just as all of the siblings had a chance to scatter some ashes, the tide came in. causing everyone to get a bit wet. It's very appropriate that the ocean came to meet us when we were celebrating Manny's life.
